We are proud to present our first ever Autumn Production – Playhouse Creatures, by April de Angelis, from 6th – 8th September 2018, 7.30pm at Hollesley Village Hall. Directed by Fliss Bridgwater and produced by Mark Dovey.
The year is 1669, and England is rediscovering the joy of playhouses after Cromwell’s Puritans have been overthrown. The Merry Monarch, Charles II is on the throne, and women are allowed on stage for the first time in English history.
Join Nell Gwyn and her fearless contemporaries as they struggle to make their mark in this man’s world.
With a powerful all-female cast (Beverley Gibson, Becks Hudson, Jess French, Jan Whittaker and Lizzie Hawes) and a passionate female director, we hope to highlight that their struggles, and the challenges they faced, aren’t all that different to today.
For tickets at £9 (65 and over £8) please go to www.ticketsource.co.uk/hollesleyplayers To reserve tickets on the door please call 07860 858833 or email us at email@example.com confirming your name, performance date and number of tickets.

Hollesley Players Committee
We are really excited this week, as our opening night is on Thursday! Our director, Jim Wyllie; producer, Stuart Aldridge and our wonderful cast have been working so hard since January to make this, one of our most challenging productions, the best Spring production yet! Call our box office now on 01394 411079 to book, or throw caution to the wind and just turn up on the night! We look forward to seeing you there.
Message from Jim Wyllie.
This year's Spring production is Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit. Coward called it “An improbable farce” but I think it is so much more. It raises many issues about the side of marital relationships that lie beneath the surface and are not what is generally presented to the public.
We are keeping it in period as it was first performed in 1941, in Manchester, before moving to the Piccadilly Theatre in London, with Fay Compton, Cecil Parker and Margaret Rutherford in the leading roles.
The intriguing plot focuses on a successful playwrite who asks a medium to perform a séance so he can use it within a book he plans to write. He and his second wife invite two sceptical friends to dinner to watch the entertainment.
All starts well but before long there are most unexpected happenings as this play develops into a great deal more than mere farce.
Rehearsals are well underway and the members of the cast are settling into their roles. This is a big and challenging play but I am confident that The Hollesley Players will provide a performance that you will not want to miss.
The play will be at Hollesley Village Hall on Thursday 25th May, Friday 26th and Saturday 27th at 19.30. Tickets cost: Adults £8.00 & Concessions £6.00. Ticket prices will be reduced by £1.00 if paid for in advance and are available from the box office on 01394 411079 or Hollesley Village Stores.
We look forward to welcoming you.
Jim Wyllie, director.
Our next Spring Production will Noël Coward's 1941 play Blithe Spirit, directed by Jim Wyllie.
Auditions will take place on Friday 27 January 2017, 7.30pm at Hollesley Village Hall.
The play concerns the socialite and novelist Charles Condomine, who invites the eccentric medium and clairvoyant, Madame Arcati, to his house to conduct a séance, hoping to gather material for his next book. The scheme backfires when he is haunted by the ghost of his annoying and temperamental first wife, Elvira, after the séance. Elvira makes continual attempts to disrupt Charles' marriage to his second wife, Ruth, who cannot see or hear the ghost.
All are welcome to attend and acting experience is not essential! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
